In choosing connectors, it is important to match one to the type of cable being used, the impedance (50 versus 75 ohms), the frequency support, insertion loss, voltage rating and environmental specifications. Installation of connectors without experience and proper equipment will lead to improperly terminated connectors.

This connector is a RP-SMA jack for RG58 and 195-Series cable. Connectors can be a bit confusing regarding the gender. There are Reverse Polarity (RP) SMA and regular SMA connectors. RP-SMA is common with many wireless products. The RP-SMA jack is a female connector. It has threads on the outside and the pin protrudes from inside the connector. This causes confusion for many not familiar with various connector types leading them to believe that this is the male, however it is the female. We generally prefer the term, jack, in order to avoid this confusion.
