Product Description – Model CA5E-CMRXO-FOOT

AIR802® designed and manufactures CA5E-CMRXO for indoor and outdoor use. General characteristics are CAT5e, four pair, unshielded twisted pair (UTP), 24 AWG, CMR / CMX-outdoor UL rating, neutral beige colored industrial grade PVC jacket and is offered here as by the foot pricing. It is also available packaged in 1000 feet pull boxes. CA5E-CMRXO offers significant quality and performance. Compliance approvals have been granted against a wide range of industry standards. CA5E-CMRXO is equivalent to Belden 7918A and Superior Essex 51-240-11 in quality and performance.
 
 
CA5E-CMRXO has been designed to prevent damage from long-term UV exposure and standup against extreme cold and heat unlike a standard CM or CMR type cable. Therefore it is particularly suitable for use in residential applications where a portion of a cable run is inside and portion is running along an outside wall of a dwelling.
 
 
What is CMR or CMX rating?
 
Article 800 of the National Electric Code (NEC) defines CM as communication cable intended for general use within buildings, which is the minimum requirement. CM cable must pass UL 1581, Sec. 1160 (Vertical-Tray) tests. The "R" in CMR signifies riser cable. CMR riser cable is intended for use within buildings in vertical shafts where cables run between floors in open shafts not considered as air plenum. CMR cable must pass UL 1666 testing. CMX is designated by NEC for use in residential applications. CMX cables marked "Outdoor" indicates its suitability for installation outdoors on dwellings. CMX cable must pass UL 1581, Sec. 1080 (VW-1) flame testing.
