Marine / RV WiFi 2.4 GHz Omni Directional Wireless Antenna, 1"-14 Thread Mount, 12 dBi Gain #ANMA2412

Marine / RV WiFi 2.4 GHz Omni Directional Wireless Antenna, 1"-14 Thread Mount, 12 dBi Gain

The AIR802® ANMA2412 is the industry's highest gain marine or recreational vehichle (RV) outdoor WiFi (2.4 GHz), 12 dBi gain omni-directional antenna. This antenna is designed for those who desire the highest possible gain and utilization of a standard marine 1 inch - 14 thread mount. Alternatively, our ANOM2412 is a 12 dBi antenna for mast mount style mounting should this be preferable to the marine style mount. We provide both styles or options to meet the individual needs of marine customers. This antenna was engineered for superior coverage in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. Omnidirectional antennas provide coverage in a full 360° radius. The frequency of this band is 2.4 to 2.485 GHz is utilized most commonly for WiFi applications under the IEEE 802.11b/g and draft-N (2.4 GHz band) specifications. It provides VSWR of ≤ 1.5, which is part of the professional quality of this antenna. Each antenna has been hand soldered, inspected and tested against our rigorous production quality standards.

Covered in an all weather fiberglass radome and with 316 grade stainless steel components, this omni antenna is built to last in tough outdoor marine environments where harsh UV rays and salt water are ever present. The stainless steel extension tube (SS316TUBE) and mounts are not included. The antenna has a N-female connector.

What Gain Models Does AIR802 Offer?
AIR802® has engineered and manufactures many different antennas with various gain. At this moment we are offering the 2.4 GHz marine WiFi omni mode only in 12 dBi gain. If interest exists for for lower gain models we can add these to our production.

Do You Offer a 15 dBi Omni Antenna?
No. Actually as an engineering company, we must inform unsuspecting customers that a 15 dBi omni antenna only exists in marketing literature. It is not technically or pratically possible to build a 15 dBi model. Some companies offer antennas marketed as 15dBi. To prove our point, we bought samples of all of them, placed them into a testing laboratory and clearly none provided 15dBi gain. Some provided less than 11 dBi gain! Even if we could change the physics and make it possible, the vertical beam would be too narrow to be useful. We prefer not to use these type of marketing tatics and provide factual and truthful information. If you really need more gain, then you need an access point or router with more RF output power and better receiver sensitivity - see our high power access points or routers under the category of Radios. Or consider using semi-directional or directional style antennas, where the gain can be higher. For example, AIR802® manufactures a 90 degree sector antenna with 17 dBi gain. Four of these would cover a full 360° radius.

What Other Products May I Need With The Antenna?
If you will be mouting to a 1"-14 thread marine mount, our SS316TUBE extension tube (ferrule) will be necessary to go between the antenna and the antenna mount. If an existing mount is not already existing, we suggest our AN-MOUNT-02, which is a stainless steel 1"-14 thread mounting bracket for flat surfaces. Other mounting brackets styles will be offered in the future or are commonly available in marine supply stores.

Additionally, you will need an antenna cable assembly (pre-made antenna cable). The antenna has a N-female connector. Thus it must mate with a N-male connector on one end of the cable. The connector at the opposite end will depend on the equipment that the cable is being attached. N type connectors are too large to fit through the SS316TUBE. However, if you are using our CA195 cable, and the connector at the equipment (radio) end is a smaller connector like a RP-SMA or RP-TNC, the small end will slide directly through the hole in the tube just fine. However, CA195 is generally only used for distances up to 20 feet. Otherwise we suggest several options:

1. The cable and connectors can be purchased seperately and the connectors installed on the ends of the cable on-site. Since lack of experience and/or the ability to fully test the cable for VSWR and insertion loss may not exist after adding connectors yourself this will be the least likely option for the majority of users.

2. If the connector at the "radio" or WiFi equipment end is a smaller type, such as RP-SMA, RP-TNC, etc., then a pre-made antenna cable assembly can be purchased in various lengths and cable types. The cable with the small connector end would be slipped through from the inside to the outside of the SSTUBE and run along the desired route to the radio device. The N-male end would then be connected to the antenna.

3. You may purchase our CA195-W-NMRSJ-008I, which is a 8 inch length pre-made antenna cable assembly from our CA195 white jacket cable. This cable has a N-male and a RP-SMA jack (female) connector. The RP-SMA connector will easily slip through the inside to the exterior of the SSTUBE. The N-male will connect to the antenna. Then a longer length of cable can be attached to this short pigtail cable that has a RP-SMA plug (male) connector and the appropriate connector on the opposite end for the radio device.

4. Perhaps the best option is to purchase the appropriate pre-made antenna cable assembly, choosing the desired cable type and length. Then click below on the option "Ship cable pre-installed through the SS316TUBE. We will then install the connector for you at no additional cost. This will allow you to use even our CA400 white jacketed flex cable.

To assist you in determining the connector type required for your wireless router or other equipment, visit our Knowledge Center on the left-hand side of the page just below the Product Categories. We provide a cross-reference list of manufacturers and model numbers to the connector type utilized as well as connector photos for identifying the connector type. If you are using an AIR802® wireless USB adapter (USB-ADG-2) or AP-G200 / AP-G250, you will need a RP-SMA for that end of the cable. If you are using our AP-G300, you will need an N-male connector on that end of the cable also.

What Do I need Besides an Antenna and Cable?
Your options can vary. In general, you need some WiFi transceiver or "Radio" device. For example, the AIR802® USB-ADG-2 wireless USB adapter is very popular worldwide, is low cost and services well if you have only one computer. The antenna that comes with the wireless adapter is not used in lieu of the antenn cable and outdoor WiFi antenna. Alternatively, if you have more than one computer or are looking for even more powerful solutions, our AP-G300 access point placed into WISP Client mode, with site survey is a very common solution. Many in the boating community use the AP-G300 to communicate with the remote network and use one of our indoor access points such as the AP-G200 or AP-G250 behind it to act as the on-board router. This solution allows mutiple computers to access a network with maximum power. Contact us if you need assistance or have questions.

Buyer Information

What Distance Will We Get?
As professional engineers at AIR802®, we must advice novice users of wireless technology that antennas in and of themselves do not determine the coverage distance. Distance is a function of a number of factors. We do not provide misleading or unprofessional statements regarding the achievable distance of any particular antenna. In order to determine the distance, the RF path must be calculated using such information as the transmitter RF output power and radio receiver sensitivity between any two points, the cable loss by type and length of any antenna cables, other losses such as lightning protectors, the antenna gain and free space loss at the relevant frequency. Should you encounter anyone offering the range or distance an antenna can obtain, then you should know that this person is intentionally or unknowingly providing useless information. Need help, let us know.

Antenna Performance - Buyer Education
AIR802® also points out as part of our Truth-in-Facts policy that all antenna designs and production techniques are not the same. Like other product purchases you make, you should be aware that not all antennas perform according to their specifications. Unfortunately some sellers either don't know what they are selling or inflate the numbers. We at AIR802® are committed to high quality products and guarantee 100% that our antennas perform to our specifications. In other words, if you buy a 12 dBi antenna, you WILL get 12dBi of gain, guaranteed!
