The AIR802® AP-G200 with 250mW is our highly reliable and very popular indoor wireless WiFi access point or router. This professional model offers high RF power output and advanced capabilities. This is a true multi-function model allowing it to be configured in multiple modes. This award winning product has a wide range of possibilities fitting in numerous applications. Use it as a superior broadband router over typical store models, as an access point for your office or property, for providing hot spot service or in many other network applications. It can be configured as a router, bridge, or access point. It is compliant with the IEEE 802.11b/g standards and offers a data rate up to 54 Mbps (compare to your cable/dsl modem of typically less than 1Mbps to 6Mbps). The AP-200 can be configured in multiple modes creating flexibility for use in a wide variety of applications.
Housed in a tough metal housing it is suitable for use in plenum ceilings. The AP-G200 supports operating temperature extremes down to -30°C (-22°F) or in hot environments up to 60°C (140°F). No electric outlet required at the installation site with the unit being powered through power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology. We include a 48VDC PoE injector (POEIJ-B) in the package. For those unfamiliar with PoE, the injector can be installed near your network and it has two modular plugs in addition to the AC power connection. One plug is for the cable going to the network (router, cable or dsl modem, etc.). The other goes to the AP-G200 access point and applies 48VDC to the spare unused pairs in the Ethernet network cable. The AP-G200 can be wall mounted, placed in the ceiling, or simply placed in a shelf or rack.
The AP-G200 does not ship with an antenna. You have the full flexibility to choose the most appropriate antenna for your installation. Mounted in the rear side is a (Reverse Polarity) RP–SMA type connector. Choose an antenna or cable assembly with a RP-SMA Plug (male) connector. Many applications use the AP-G200 indoors with an outdoor mounted antenna for connectivity to a network outside of the building. Through the use of an power divider (antenna power splitter) you have the ability to split the signal to two, three or four antennas if desired.
The AP-G200 supports basic to strong security encryption techniques. It also supports VoIP friendly QoS mechanisms and bandwidth management.
This unit will be a perfect fit for residential networks, inter-building networks, sharing Internet between facilities, schools and educational institutions, warehouses, campgrounds, marinas, yachts, commercial offices, WiFi hotspots, truck stops, golf resorts, hotels or government offices.
The AP-G200 has been popular to bridge an outside network, for example a WiFi service offered by a marina to yachts with multiple computers through either connecting it back-to-back with an existing broadband router or with a second AP-G200. Typical store purchased broadband routers are intended to plug into a wired (DSL or Cable Modem) wide area network connection and communicate with in-house computers via WiFi wireless technology. They can not bridge an external WiFi network to the internal wireless network. Therefore many have found that our high power indoor unit can provide them with a robust solution in this application.
Many consumers are now purchasing this for their homes after discovering that a typical consumer grade router with 30 to 65mW of RF output power doesn't get them very far. This device by comparison provides up to 250mW of RF output power. In a home or office, it can be your wireless router providing strong connectivity. Or it maybe placed into client mode and used to pick up WiFi signals from outside (particularly when coupled with an outdoor antenna). In client mode, the service will be available in via the Ethernet network port (at the PoE injector). Or add an indoor antenna and outdoor antenna with the use of an power divider (antenna splitter), place it universal repeater mode and it will connect to a remote network and simultaneously act as a wireless device in your home. Many use two of the devices to create a bridge between a house and a detached garage, etc.
Commercial offices are replacing existing poor performing access points daily with the AP-G200. With all the latest encryption security techniques inlcuding 802.11x and full Radius support, this is a very popular solution.
Generally a device like this requires a strong networking background, but many users have found that they can have their unit up and running in as little as 15 minutes through the friendly and easy to use software wizard and graphical user interface.
