Product Description – Model ANYA2408

The ANYA2408 is our professional quality 8 dBi gain directional WiFi yagi antenna. This antenna was engineered for superior semi-directional coverage in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. The frequency of this band is 2.4 to 2.485 GHz is utilized most commonly for WiFi applications under the IEEE 802.11b/g and draft-N specifications. It provides VSWR of < 1.5, which is part of the professional quality of this antenna. Each antenna has been hand soldered, inspected and tested against our rigorous production quality standards.

Covered in a fiberglass radome the antenna elements are protected and adaptable for use in all weather environments. An important feature is the "L" type mounting bracket which provides 45° tilt adjustments for necessary upward and downward aiming. It is shipped with two U-bolts for mounting on up to 2" outer diameter (OD) mast or pipe. Another key feature of this antenna is that it has the versatility to provide mounting in the vertical or horizontal polarity position. The color is neutral allowing it to blend into the surrounding environment. The antenna has a short coaxial cable lead of 20 cm (7.87 inches) and is terminated with a N-female type connector.

What Distance Will We Get?

As professional engineers at AIR802®, we must advice novice users of wireless technology that antennas in and of themselves do not determine the coverage distance. We do not provide misleading or unprofessional statements regarding the achievable distance of any particular antena. Distance is a function of a number of factors. One must compute the RF path using such information as the transmitter RF output power and radio receiver sensitivity between any two points, consider the cable loss by type and length of any antenna cables, other losses such as lightning protectors, the antenna gain and free space loss at the relevant frequency. Antenna Performance - Beware

AIR802® also points out that all antenna designs and production techniques are not the same. Like other product purchases you make, you should be aware that not all antennas perform according to their specifications. Unfortunately some sellers either don't know what they are selling or inflate the numbers. We at AIR802® are committed to high quality products and guarantee 100% that our antennas perform to our specifications. In other words, if you buy a 8 dBi antenna, you WILL get 8dBi of gain, guaranteed!

Yagi Antenna Application Ideas

Yagi antennas are semi-directional in coverage. The higher the gain, the narrower the frequency beam. Yagi antennas may be used to provide coverage between two locations. Or perhaps your interest is to connect to a remote wireless service. First you must have a "radio" device. That device might be an internal wireless card in your computer with an external antenna connector or our highly popular USB-ADG-2 wireless USB adapter with a removeable and external antenna. With our USB adapter, simply store the small antenna that comes with the product in a drawer and use one of our pre-made antenna cable assemblies to go between the USB adapter and the Yagi antenna. We recommend a coaxial lightning or surge protector be installed.

Or for further distances and options, use our indoor or outdoor access points found under the category of "Radios". Again you would use an pre-made antenna cable between the access point and the antenna. Then, depending on the optional configuration of the access point, it can be configured as a wireless router, bridge (this is like a virtual wire between two points) or client device (think of a client like a powerful WiFi card).

If you use our access points in "client" mode, your computer can be connected to it through an Ethernet network cable. In client mode, you simply click on site survey and view the available networks and connect to the desired network. Or our access points can be used in what is referred to as Universal Repeater Mode, which means that they are used to connect to a remote network and repeat the signal locally. With Universal repeater mode, the signal through the yagi, pointed away would not be useful for your local coverage, so a splitter could be used for using an internal antenna (such as a rubber duck dipole style) and external yagi antenna.

In "bridge" mode, you can use one of our access points, plugged into a network with DSL or a Cable modem directly or even into one of the ports of an existing wireless router. If you install one of our pre-made antenna cable assemblies to the yagi outside, then you can at the remote end (whether it be a detached garage, or office building, etc.) build a bridged network. At the remote end, you can use another of our access points to communicate with the primary location, particularly for stronger RF power (signal), with an exterior antenna at that end, or if it is an single computer, the use of one of our USB wireless adapters might be all that you need.

The access points, coupled with IP video surveillance cameras are also another popular application since the video can be carried long distances via wireless.
